Irish Design
We are purveyors of Luxury Irish design.
Being Irish, it makes us proud to be able to offer a luxury Irish brand which is designed and made in Ireland. Our traditional manufacturing process means we are taking something from the past, keeping it alive in the present and allowing it to evolve into the future.
We buy our cashmere from two of the most prestigious Italian and Scottish cashmere mills in the world. Our cashmere collections are made in either two ply cashmere, four ply cashmere or with a cashmere and silk blend which has been specifically produced for Madigan. Everything is finished to our highest standard and is personally checked by Elaine before it leaves the studio.
The feeling which we want to portray is that lovely expensive feeling you get as you walk through some the small streets in Paris or Milan. It’s an understated elegance not always associated with Ireland but this is the subliminal message we are sending out.
We use a handflat knitting technique which was popular in Ireland from about the 50s to the 80s. Many a school jumper was knit by mothers in their homes in this manner. Who ever would have thought we could create something so beautiful all these years later.
We have found these knitting machines in peoples attics, at car boot sales on Done Deal, Ebay and have reconditioned them to suit what we are doing and to put our own stamp on the process
